Boopy Sleep Update

The war rages on....and on.... So tonight, Papa was working so again I had a little girl who didn't want to listen to Mama. Forget the fact that the last two nights when Papa was home for bedtime, she went into her bed without much fussing and actually stayed there. Tonight, things started out okay. Bed time ended up a little late, so they were, or should have been, good and ready for sleep. Big Boy curled up and was asleep in no time. Boopy actually stayed in her bed for a bit. I thought all was good until I heard rustling around, a little voice and toys being played with. At this point I figured at least she's staying in her room. I let it go on for a few minutes and then called out for her to go to bed. It got quiet again. And then there was a little person standing in the doorway. She told me she had "yuckies" and needed her bottom changed. Ugh. So, after changing her, I put her back in her bed and told her goodnight, again. She fussed and within a few moments she was back in the hallway. After telling her to go to bed, again, she told me no and curled up on the floor outside my door like the other night. Still, I figured this is better than coming into my room. What worked out though is that after I ignored her for a while she inched more and more into their bedroom. She finally passed out like this....

So, it's still not as good as staying and sleeping in her bed, but we're getting closer in proximity!
As frustrating as she is, she's still awfully cute! (Especially when she's sleeping!)

I won the battle, but I haven't won the war...

Ah, the sleep war rages on....and on... On the nights that Papa Vaughn is working it seems to be a bigger struggle to get Boopy to bed. No matter how forceful or stern I try to be she flat out won't listen. For Papa, however, she'll listen. Sometimes it may take a couple of tries, but she listens. Ugh.

Saturday night, however, I had a minor break through. It was bedtime. Big Boy stayed in his bed and I put Boopy in her bed after story time. I thought all was good until a few moments later Boopy came toddling into my room. After what felt like a million, but was probably only 3 times, of putting her back in her bed, all was quiet again. That is until, a few minutes later as I was folding laundry, I caught a glimpse of Boopy in the corner of my eye. The interesting thing was that this time was she didn't come into my room but instead just stood there at the doorway. I ignored her presence and she didn't push her luck. A moment or two later I glanced toward the doorway and saw the top of her head barely peeking in the doorway on the ground. She had curled up and fallen asleep on the floor.

While I didn't win completely by getting her to stay in her bed, I did win in the sense that she gave up trying to get me to let her stay up and come play in my room. Like many battles this one was a bit exhausting, but I'm glad I held out and wore her down. Perhaps the next battle will be more victorious and she'll actually fall asleep in her bed. Until then I do have the amusement of these pictures to show her in later years!

A new sleeping style

I know I just blogged about crazy sleepers not too long ago, but what I found tonight was even crazier! Just as I thought Big Boy was going back to his well structured proper sleeping habit of saying good night and then falling asleep in his own bed, I came up to this....

I must say he sure does come up with some crazy sleeping styles! I just had to take a picture from the other side too. And what I didn't notice at first and you can't see in the picture is that in the hand he is laying on is his beloved matchbox car, Lightning McQueen! Silly Big Boy!

And of course I have to share a picture of Boopy who was sleeping much more sanely, other than kicking all of her blankets off as usual.

So tonight on my way to bed, I peered into Big Boy's room saw the covers drawn back and no sign of Big Boy.....hmmm...kidnapped? no...reading a book? no...playing with the beloved trains? no... I bet I know where he is..... I took a few more steps into my bedroom to find this....

And not to be out done by her brother...

Can't imagine where they get their crazy sleeping style.
