Long Lost Family and Weekend Recap

April is indeed gearing up to be a crazy busy month. Granted we have a ton of fun squeezed in, but it's still jam packed nonetheless. This past weekend was drill weekend for Papa. We also had a visit from my uncle Kirk and his wife Cheryl. They came up from southern California to pick up stuff that we'd been storing for them from my grandma's house last year. We hadn't seen Uncle Kirk since Big Boy was 6 months old and I'd never met his wife, Cheryl. Pretty crazy since they've been married for nearly 13 years!
Since they came up a day earlier than expected, I took Friday afternoon off and played. We started out at Chuck-E-Cheese for lunch and games. After that we went to the Underground Gardens which I had never even been too. I've lived here most of my life and only heard of the gardens in more recent years. While it wasn't that cheap to go to, I felt good that we were supporting a local historic site. And while I don't plan on making it a regular tourist site with out of town visitors, it is worth a couple visits there and something you don't see everyday or everywhere for that matter.

Boopy fell in love with the horse game.

Big Boy of course was in love with the train!

Even Uncle Kirk got into the action!

The Underground Gardens made for a great place to sight see given the fact that Friday afternoon we had wind warnings making my original plan of going to the zoo not such a fun idea. The only downside of the gardens is the parking. You have to park ON Shaw Ave. NOT fun trying to get out of the car.

Believe it or not Baldassare Forestiere actually lived underground in rooms that he dug out by himself! He even ended up bring down electricity and had a wood burning stove. His goal was to create a complete underground resort.

Here's his bathtub and a cute pic of Great Uncle Kirk and Boopy.

While they are technically "Underground Gardens" as you can see there still was plenty of light and access to the sky above. Very impressive overall.

As for Friday evening, we just hung out and had a nice dinner at home. First pic: Great Aunt Cheryl, Boopy, Great Uncle Kirk, Big Boy. Second picture I had to share because Big Boy took this one! He's becoming quite the photographer!

Uncle Kirk and Cheryl left on Saturday morning. After they hit the road, we had a quick visit from Boopy's godfather and one of our groomsmen, Ric. He was on his way back home to southern California as well. Then about 10:45am, the kids and I rushed out of the house for a photo shoot at Rio De Oso park (a beautiful park by the way). The rest of the day was spent at home playing and then dinner with Darren and Carolyn.

Sunday, I thought about taking the kids to Big Hat Days in Clovis, but opted to stay home and catch up on pictures, housework and playtime. Neither kid seemed to mind.

They love climbing on our bed and terrorizing my laundry piles. They hide in as many towels and blankets as possible while watching a movie in comfort.

Just some more random cuteness. Doesn't Boopy look like Popeye?!

Hope you all had a wonderful Spring weekend! Sure wish the weather stayed this great all year round!
